Bat Night August 1st!!

Join us on Saturday evening, August 1st at the red cabin in Kimberly Run to watch PA Game Commission bat biologists trap bats in mist nets for study. Bats won’t usually begin flying until dusk, but our members are welcome to come early to watch the set-up (~7:30 PM) and ask questions. The event is open to all. There will be an informal talk after set-up and the biologists will be present well into the evening; so, if you can’t make it by dusk (~8:30 PM), feel free to drop by later in the evening as well. The gate will be open – you may drive back in OR park in the parking lot and walk back to the cabin. The event will be held unless there is heavy rain all evening; bats still need to eat and the hemlocks block much of the rain. Bring a flashlight for walking in the dark woods. Light refreshments will be available. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about bats close up! These magnificent creatures of the night always impress.
