Bird Walk at KRNA, Saturday, May 10, 8:00 a.m.

First we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all the trail building volunteers who showed up to help start a new trail through the Schrock property to connect to the White Trail.  Over 20 folks with brush nippers, rakes, and saws contributed to opening this new 1/2 mile connecting trail.  It still needs work but the path is now walkable and with the new parking lot along Craig Road, it offers a new option to access the 8.5 miles of trails in the entire Kimberly Run Natural Area.

We are going to have the above-mentioned birding walk and exploration of several of the habitat types at the KRNA main entrance kiosk at the end of Craig Rd.  Spring is a magic time in the woods and the fields with the breeding birds returned and many potential migrants passing through.

If you are interested in starting to learn about birds or even if you are an old hand at bird identification, it will be a fun time.

We will start, 8 a.m., with a walk through the hemlocks along the stream at the Craig Road KRNA main entrance, and at about 9:30 a.m. move over to the Menser side and explore fields, the wetlands, and a hardwood forest.

Bring binoculars (we will have a couple loaners), good walking shoes, and enthusiasm.  We will see what the KRNA has to offer!

 No RSVP is required.
