Come and join in the fun for a mushroom foray on Saturday, September 6 at Kimberly Run!
Learn to spot and identify fungi from some of the best. For 30 years running, the Mycological Association of Washington, DC holds their annual mushroom foray at Camp Sequanota in Somerset County over Labor Day Weekend. Some of their number will be on hand to lead us in the search through the woods of Kimberly Run. Last year’s outing was very successful and we expect the same this year. Additionally, our members are formally invited to make the trek to Camp Sequanota over the weekend and examine their collection tables. Over the years, they have managed to account for over 800 local species of fungi; so the tables are exceptionally interesting to peruse. The walk will start at 2 PM from the Craig Road parking lot (the main parking area) and continue through the afternoon. This event is rain or shine: wet weather is actually better. If you have a specimen to share, bring it along for identification.
Don’t miss this enjoyable and educational opportunity!
